NEW DELHI (Reuters) - One Indian cricket team has withdrawn cheerleaders from matches while others are being told to cover up, after protests that their dances and skimpy outfits were offensive to conservative Indians.

Hitting out at authorities for using cheerleaders in the cricket field to ’seduce’ crowd, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Monday said the sanctity of cricket has been lost as the promoters have turned the field into a dance bar.
